COSTA RICA 2021 FAQ – ULTIMATE SOUL ESCAPE

The Ultimate Soul Escape to Costa Rica is fast approaching so we wanted to update you on pertinent travel documentations and procedures. Below is the official link for the Costa Rican Travel Advisory which contains all documents and information that is required before and upon your entry to the country. We’ve also created an FAQ that includes information in regard to the new CDC International Travel law. Please be advised that this information is in accordance with the current COVID-19 guidelines and is subject to change at any time. We recommend visiting the CDC site regularly to be kept abreast of any changes.

FAQs

What documents/forms are required to travel to Costa Rica?

In order to travel internationally each traveler must have a Valid Passport and boarding pass. As of 4/10/2021, Costa Rica does not require a negative PCR test to enter their country, however travelers must provide proof of a medical insurance policy to cover any COVID-19 related medical treatment or quarantine lodging. What do I need to do to return back to the United States?

The CDC has now mandated that all travelers coming to the United States (including citizens returning home) must provide a negative covid-19 test prior to getting on the plane. CDC Guidelines can be found here.

The new CDC law requires proof of a Negative COVID-19 test within 3 days prior to arrival in the US. Is there onsite testing at the resort?

The resort is providing on-site testing at their resort medical facility. Upon check-in, each guest will schedule their appointment for the following day or for the date that aligns with 3 days prior to departing Costa Rica. 

Is there a cost for the COVID-19 test?

As part of CleanComplete+, guests may receive COVID-19 viral antigen testing on-property at NO COST when traveling to valid countries including the U.S., U.K.,Germany and Poland. Test results will be received the same day in a format consistent with government requirements.

For guests traveling to countries that do not accept the COVID-19 viral antigen test, CleanComplete+ includes facilitation of the required PCR test with an additional cost to the guest.

In the event that someone tests positive, are they moved to a government issued quarantine facility?

If a guest tests positive, they can remain in isolation at the resort in a designated area away from all other guests. The cost of quarantine at the property will be covered for up to 14 days after the original departure date. Extended stay due to quarantine can accommodate the guest as well as one travel companion. Guests will be required to remain in their rooms in quarantine for 14 days before retesting. 

Do I still need proof of a negative COVID-19 test if I’m vaccinated or have tested positive for antibodies?

Yes. At this time all air passengers traveling to the US are required to provide a negative Covid-19 test result or documentation of recovery. 

Is the Antigen (Rapid) test acceptable to come back into the US?

Yes, both the PCR and Antigen negative test results are acceptable for entry into the US.

Is there medical coverage included in my Travel Guard Insurance?

Travel Guard Insurance is separate from the Costa Rica Medical Coverage required for entry. The cost averages between $2.50 – $6.00 for each day you are in Costa Rica. For NYS Residents is there a quarantine requirement upon return?

Yes. There is a 10-day quarantine mandate for travelers returning to NY. However, quarantine time can be shortened to 4 days with proof of negative covid test upon entry and another negative covid test on the 4th day after return. 

What social distancing protocols have been put in place at the resort? Are masks required to be worn while on the resort?

The resort has adjusted restaurant spaces, capacity and common areas to promote social distancing. We advise that masks be worn at all times when in common spaces, walking to and from guest quarters to common spaces and when social distance cannot be maintained. 

Does the resort do temperature checks and sanitizing foot mats?

Upon arrival, each guest will have their temperature taken. There are also thermal cameras to capture guest temperatures throughout the duration of their stay. Yes. The resort is equipped with sanitizing foot mats as well as gel alcohol sanitizing stations throughout the resort. Resort cleanliness verification can be found here.

Is there a designated guest check-in area large enough to accommodate us and maintain social distancing?

Yes. We will have a private guest check-in area in the ballroom on the main arrival date. 

Are there any activities not being held due to COVID-19 restrictions? Will there be any modifications to our current itinerary?

Costa Rica is currently operating at 50% capacity for indoor events. Activities and events are currently being held with social distance protocols in place. The Ultimate Soul Escape weekend itinerary will be modified should these restrictions still be in place in July.
